Progress Report
The area in the garage has been cleaned out so construction I can start working on the bench work. My plan is to move the hollow door bench work that's in the house back into the garage where it will be put in its permanent spot. One decision I need to make regards layout height. Ideally I would like the layout to be between 48 and 50 inches but the existing bench work is about 30 inches. I guess I need t0 make a decision on that and quickly. since I have a little ebay cash to spend I plan on buying the rest of the track I need for Fort James plus some extra for the extention which is on the drawing board now.

Thoughts from the day
As this blog grows I will mention where I get inspiration from. One place I recommend for everyone is www.modelrailcast.com Ryan Anderson puts on a weekly podcast that is a must have for anyone in this hobby especially newbies. Check out the website and download the podcast directly from the site or from itunes. You will not be dissappointed!
Welcome
Greetings everyone and welcome to Parkway Hills Tranit's Eastern Division. This is where I will chronicle my journey into building this portion of Parkway Hills Transit. Right now I'm seeking help on how to build my benchwork. Here are a few things that I do and do not want. I believe this is what you can call "givens and druthers" for my eastern division:
- I want a single deck layout that will run from Fort James (the eastern terminus of the railroad) thru Kings Bay to Eastern Parkway Hills.
- Fort James should be built on the dimensions of a hollow door with space for a commuter station and at least three industries one of which will be a freight house.
- At least four or five tracks for staging that would represent other parts of Parkway Hills and various points for Norfolk Southern and CSX.
